Do you have a book(s) that you’ll always treasure?
As a writer, I really wish I’d have kept the books I had and read as a child. When I was at school I wanted to be a musician in a band; music was my everything. Being a writer wasn’t on my list, even though I enjoyed writing stories. English was my favourite subject, but for me, school was a very unpleasant experience.
So, unsurprisingly, I have only a few ‘old’ books. One is a biography of Suzi Quatro, written in 1976 by Margaret Mander. I have one from the early eighties: Widows by Lynda La Plante, which was signed by her at a book talk I attended many years later.
Being a huge tennis fan, my favourite is 100 Years of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships, written by James Medlycott and published in 1977. As you’ll see from the pic below, it’s a very well read copy that I often pick up and flick through, just for reminiscence.
If you have a favourite book please share it!

The books below were found in a friend’s loft. The Mrs Beeton’s Cookery Book belonged to her mum. The Ladybird Book of British Wild Flowers was awarded for first prize in a bulb growing competition. Those Winnie The Pooh books are wonderful keepsakes. Thank you, Maggie, for allowing me to share these on my blog.
