Wow 🤩 I remember those. How car shape has changed over the years!
Haven’t they just, Liz. The metro didn’t have power steering either!
Hard to imagine what that’s like now 😂
Oh wow-I had one of these in 1990/1…-4 door naVy blue. Can still remember the reg..B801LTJ!
Oh Sis, I never knew that! I can’t believe you can still remember the number plate!
They were great cars weren’t they.
WOW now that’s an old car
It is isn’t it, Crystal. They certainly don’t make them like that any more.
We all loved our first car didn’t we? Mine was a red VW Beetle – the bees knees❤️
We sure did, Lou. A friend of mine had a beetle – it was yellow – for many, many years and loved it. When I got the metro, it was huge compared to the little Fiat 126!
Don’t we get attached to our cars?
If the Mini Metro was a car of the 80s, I missed it.
I think the last car I had in the UK was a Vauxhall called The Yellow Peril because it was canary yellow. The next, here in the Basque Country, was a fire-engine-red Ford Escort. The last one was a hand-me-down Hyundai Accent from my sister in law.
Do I miss driving? Not much. If I do feel nostalgic I just remember all the expense involved!
For me, I was attached to the Fiat 126 (which was yellow by the way) and the metro, but after that, I just wanted a car to get me from A to B.
I’ve always preferred smallish cars and my current one is a Kia Picanto. Talking of expense, my air-con stopped working and I was told it needed a new part – the quote was £800! Needless to say I declined and just open every window now – for free!
I remember those. My second car was a 1968 Pontiac Firebird I bought in Kentucky while I was stationed in Fort Knox.
Nice you remember the Metro, Tim. I just googled the 1968 Pontiac Firebird – wow it’s huge!
My first car was a silver 1978 VW Polo, “Polly Polo”. I loved it, and the independence it gave me. My parents didn’t drive so I was always getting lifts from friends or walking.
I can remember the number plate as well – XKB 333T.
I loved the mini metro though, my friend had one.
I had a mini metro too! It was my second car (my first was a white ford fiesta). I now have a volvo estate which I love (big boot for kids and dog and lots of paraphernalia) I’m sadly about to start looking for another car as it’s getting really old and clonks and clanks rather a lot. They all seem to be tanks these days but as our lanes flood around here I might have to bite the bullet – anything smaller is too low and I might be in danger of floating away! Wasn’t it easier when we didn’t have to worry?
