Faversham Armed Forces Day 2026

Some friends and I visited Faversham on 14 June for their annual Armed Forces Day. I love history and it was just like stepping back in time. The street was full of re-enactors who so vividly brought the 1940s to life. It was like being transported back in time and it was wonderful to witness it.

The whole vibe was amazing: swing, jazz and big-band music blasted out from two huge PA speakers, vintage vehicles were parked up on display and the café sold my favourite – bread pudding! The waitresses were dressed up and looked wonderful in their forties regalia.

Of course we were also there to honour our brave armed forces lads and lasses, who fought so proudly and resolutely for our freedom. It was a chance to reflect and remember, whilst enjoying the history and music of the forties.

As usual, I took a few photos of the occasion and I hope you like them. The guy dressed as Sir Winston Churchill – had to be seen to be believed!

What a neat adventure. I have a longstanding love affair with the 1940’s, lol. And I love bread pudding 🙂

We had a great time, Jean. I also love the 1940s, everything about it seems fun and positive, despite the hard times during the war.

I can tell you Liz, that bread pudding tasted as good as it looked. The Winston Churchill is so surreal isn’t he.

I always attend these type of events, Tim. Without our armed forces, where would our great country be? Our guys and gals are fantastic.

This was clearly a great day out with lots to see and enjoy. The bread pudding struck a nerve – my nan used to make it and my mum tried to keep me away from it!

My mum always made bread pudding for us all and dad always ate it steaming hot with custard. I preferred it cold the next day.
